Owners of @sweetwaterscoffeetea in Asbury Park were very gracious hosts! Rainy day out but it’s always a pleasant day drinking coffee and talking with people about the Pine Barrens and the Piney. And I got to meet a few of Piney Tribes #1 fans. Great to see the enthusiasm for my writing and the story that few know. One book at a time changing the negative stereotypes labeling the people of south jersey by opening the eyes and hearts of my fellow New Jerseyians.
A week ago I randomly did an act of kindness. You never get recognized for the nice things you do in life it’s usually the few times you were having a bad day that people remember you by. For a month or more the same UPS guy has been lugging boxes of books to my front porch. I caught up with him last week and gave him an autographed copy of my book telling him I figured you’d be curious of what you’ve been dropping off to my place. Well the other day he stopped back by after his route was completed and told my wife he was especially thankful for the book. I think it was a highlight of his day. If you can be kind it’s a great feeling on both sides of the act. That coffee mug was given to me by a special family friend of ours who said when she saw it she had to get it for me. Good vibes to all whether the rain wants to hit our parade today or not!
New Jersey radio @nj1015 ‘s Dennis Malloy was kind enough to write an article on our book New Jersey’s Lost Piney Culture. Read what he wrote using the link in our bio. It’s time for the state to reconcile the indifference shown to our own New Jerseyians who wore and wear the title of Piney.
If you know you know.
